TXS0104E: VCCA> VCCB, what will happen?

Hi Sir,

My customer is useing TXS0104EYZTR on their system.

And their VCCA is 3.2V, VCCB is 3.3V.

Based on the spec suggestion VCCA ≤VCCB, but customer violate this rule.

Their platform already ship to end customer and have fail return.

May I have your help to advise what will happen if VCCA ≤VCCB?

Will it damage our chip?

There is an internal protection diode between V_CCA and V_CCB; a leakage current will flow. See V_CCA and V_CCB Bias Requirements for Bidirectional Translators.

This does not exceed the absolute maximum ratings, so there will be no permanent damage. But it is outside the recommended operating conditions, so it might interfere with the correct operating of the translator (or the surrounding circuit).

Hi Patrick,

Vcca is less than Vccb as per your post here.

As Clemens mentioned, there is an app note which talks about the case when Vcca> Vccb. There could be something else which could be going on in the system. Either floating node or external pullup resistors etc.
