The input is connected to the gates of two complementary MOSFETs. So the input pin is isolated from the rest of the circuit (unless you exceed the breakdown voltage of the gate insulation, which is at least 6.5 V).

Yes, inputting a 5V signal on pin A will be fine. It is within the recommended operating conditions of the device.
