SN74LVCH245A: Future supplyability and EOL schedule

Part Number: SN74LVCH245A

Dear TI Team,

Our customer is using SN74LVCH16245AZRDR (BGA).
However, as SN74LVCH16245AZRDR (BGA) is now in the Last Time Buy state,

https://www.ti.com/product/SN74LVCH16245A?keyMatch=SN74LVCH16245AZRDR%20&tisearch=Search-EN-everything&usecase=GPN#order-quality

I suggest to them a method of using two SN74LVCH245ARGYR (VQFN) as an alternative to the above.

However, our customers are concerned about future availability of SN74LVCH245ARGYR (VQFN).

Therefore, please tell us about the future supplyability of SN74LVCH245ARGYR (VQFN) and whether there are any plans for EOL.
(If possible, I would like to communicate offline (using E-mail).)

Best Regards,

Y.Ottey

  • Hey Ottey,

The customer shouldn't be concerned with this, there are no plans for EOL.

  • Dear Dylan

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand that I don't have to worry about the availability of the SN74LVCH245ARGYR (VQFN).
But I need to explain more details to our customers.
Therefore, I would like you to answer the following questions as well.

    1. If you check the following page of TI, you will find the following description.
    https://www.ti.com/support-quality/quality-policies-procedures/product-life-cycle.html

”Our guidelines state that TI standard products are not eligible for obsolescence if any of these three conditions exist:
・The product has had any sales within the last five years (seven years for automotive or high-reliability products).
・The product can be manufactured and has been in production for less than 10 years.
・The product has any current customer demand.”

Since SN74LVCH245ARGYR satisfies the above 3 items, is it correct to recognize that there is no plan for EOL?

    2. Are the SN74LVCH245ARGYR and other VQFN packaged products manufactured at multiple TI locations?

    3. Is the VQFN package product such as SN74LVCH245ARGYR a major product in the world (global)?

    4. Is it a policy that VQFN package products will be released in the future with new products such as logic ICs?

If you like, as I mentioned in the first post, I can also communicate offline via email.

    Regards,

    Y.Ottey

  • Hi Ottey,

I can't really speak for the broader TI when answering these questions. However, I can reiterate that we don't have plans to EOL this device. The VQFN package has been very receptive by our customers when wanting to gravitate away from a leaded package. It's likely a package we offer for new devices, but its not a policy to include this package with every new device. Our goal is to keep providing packages customers can manufacture while at the same time minimizing solution size.
