SN74LVC541A: SN74LVC541A pin 6 over voltage

Part Number: SN74LVC541A

Dear team,

Customer tested that when the voltage of Pin 6 >5.5V, this channel will be hurt and the output always low. I see from datasheet that the absolute voltage of Pin 6 should be 6.5V. And the fault rate is about 4/226=1.7%, and always pin 6 faults, other IOs are normal.

Would you kindly help confirm the absolute voltage?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Sammi

  • Hi Sammi,

We can only guarantee normal operation within the recommended operating conditions (for VI that is 0 to 5.5V, supply is 1.65V to 3.6V). Operating beyond ROC can result in reduction in reliability and possibly failure. Exceeding the absolute maximum ratings is likely to result in immediate and permanent damage to the device.

This device is designed for operation at 1.8V to 3.3V, so running at 6V is well beyond its design and I would highly recommend reducing the input voltage.
