SN74LVC8T245: Looking for NH245 variant of this part

Part Number: SN74LVC8T245

I am trying to repair a fan controller board that is part of a VPX development chassis I own. The bad component is a TI part NH245 which appears to be a variant of the SN74LVC8T245; this is the part that shows up when I search for NH245. However the NH245 part appears to support B port voltages of 12V whereas the standard part is only capable of supporting 5V. I am trying to obtain replacement parts for the NH245. Can you provide me with details on how I can procure the NH245 part.

  • The NH245 marking indeed identifies the SN74LVC8T245.

There is no high-voltage version of this part; the absolute maximum rating is 6.5 V, and higher voltages can damage the device.

Why do you think that 12 V would work?

  • Thanks for your response. I was assuming that the NH245 had a higher voltage range as this is how it is being used on a fan controller board I am trying to repair. The part is not working but I can measure the voltages on both sides of the device. One side is operated at 3.3V and the other side 12V.

  • Hey Ed,

That may be the case on your design, but that would be a violation of the data sheet specs for this device. This could be the reason for the part going bad. There is not a high voltage option.
