SN74LVC125A: 3.3VDC Chips do not have a DIP Package, only 5V chips have DIP package option.

Part Number: SN74LVC125A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74HC125, SN74AHC125

It looks like DIP package options are only available in 5V chips and not 3.3V.  True?

  • Hi Lloyd,

If you're talking about devices optimized for 3.3V like the LVC and AUP logic families, then that's pretty accurate. We do have EVMs to be able to use those in a breadboard if you have a particular device you're wanting to test for something (these can be found in the product folder for the device).

If you just want to have devices that are PDIP and will work at 3.3V, then I'd recommend the HC logic family. The SN74HC125 works at 3.3V without any problems.

  • In general, only older logic families have PDIP packages. The most modern family that does is AHC (e.g., SN74AHC125), because it was designed as an upgrade for HC.

There actually are a few PDIP LVC devices.
