TMS570LC4357: STC Self test in TMS570LC4357

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hi,

As part of the power on built-in self-test for the TMS570LC4357 controller, the STC self-test is performed which resets the controller after the self-test completes.

Right now, the application which I am using currently seeks an additional reset of the controller. This affects the timing constraints of the application by increasing the load time.

Please let me know the solutions for  the below queries:

1) What is the major contribution of the STC self-test in power on built-in self-test sequence?

2) Can the STC self-test be skipped? What is the effect if it is skipped?

Thanks

Tirumala.

  • Hi Tirumala,

    1. The STC self-test or CPU self-test can provide a very high diagnostic coverage on the lockstep CPU at a transistor level.

    2. CPU self-test is required at startup if the SIL or ASIL level is required by your application.
