EK-TM4C129EXL: Pin Mux tool Board package for EK-TM4C129EXL board

Part Number: EK-TM4C129EXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EK-TM4C1294XL, TM4C129ENCPDT, SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

We would like to ask your help regarding the customer's inquiry below.

"Is there an existing board package for the listed evaluation kit board that can be used in the Pin Mux tool that includes hardwired peripherals on this kit?"

I have checked our BoostePack Checker but it's seem we don't have boosterpacks compatible with EK-TM4C129EXL evaluation module.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

The difference between EK-TM4C1294XL and EK-TM4C129EXL is that the TM4C129ENCPDT offers hardware encryption, so therefore the EK-TM4C1294XL can be used with the BoosterPack checker.

That said, I don't recall how that would then import into PinMux/SysConfig as a board package? Those tools are generally used to map out final application pinouts, not for EVMs...

  • Hi Ralph,

Thank you for your response. We have received this feedback from our customer.

The reason I am inquiring is because we want to use the GPIO breadboard connectors to test some of our peripheral driver firmware prior to receiving our custom hardware. I just wanted to start with the hard-wired pins (for example, I know there are USB pins and the JTAG header on there) in the Pin Mux tool before using it to make selections to create the header. Essentially, I want to have the tool pre-populated with pins I can’t use as user configured on that board.

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

I don't think that Pinmux offers that functionality natively. I think it was experimentally added for a few EVMs but not done for all of them.

Alternatively they could use the breakout headers to get access to the pins:

The breadboard adapter section of the board is a set of 98 holes on a 0.1 inch grid. Properly combined with a pair of right angle headers, the entire Connected LaunchPad can be plugged directly into a standard 300 mil (0.3 inch) wide solder-less breadboard. The right angle headers and breadboard are not provided with this kit. Suggested part numbers are Samtec TSW-149-09-L-S-RE and TSW-149-08-L-S-RA right angle pin headers and Twin industries TW-E40-1020 solder-less breadboard. Samtec TSW-149-09- F-S-RE and TSW-149-09-F-S-RA may be substituted.
