MSP432E401Y: Transparent comm between UART ports

Hello,

For sytem maintenance application, I would like to establish a transparent communication (bypath) between two UART ports of the same MSP432.

One of this port is connected to an external USB serial to UART chip. The other is connected to a serial sensor.

The goal would be to communicate directly from the USB host (PC) to the serial sensor (through the MSP432) temporarily to perform tests and setup.

Any idea how to achieve that in a simple way ?

Hello,

This shouldn't be too difficult. Refer to the UART code examples in the TI Resource Explorer. You'd need to configure both interfaces instead of just one. You can have an endless while() loop in your main() that receives data from your sensor periodically and then sends that data to the UART to USB bridge and your PC.

Yes but I was looking for some more simple solutions such as connecting the DMA or sharing a single FIFO buffer.

Any other ideas ?

I think "simple" is relative here :) Your concept is simple, but it would probably be more difficult to configure and implement. Have you looked at the DMA code examples in TI Resource Explorer or searched the forum for similar topics yet? The code examples are building blocks that can be leveraged and modified to achieve your requirements.
