TM4C1297NCZAD: controller that has parallel communication

Part Number: TM4C1297NCZAD

Hi Team,

May I ask for your help and expertise? My customer have a concern as shown below:

"I want to drive a LCD display using 24bit parallel mode.
I want to know which microcontroller will be the best for this application
Is there any controller that has parallel communication?"

I was able to see TM4C1297NCZAD and check it with our customer. We also saw application note Developing LCD Applications for TM4C12x MCU. The customer have 800x480x24 size LCD display but we are not sure if it can be program with the mentioned microcontroller. In addition, customer said that he wants a microcontroller that does not have BGA pins.

I hope you can advise us what best fits to customer application considering a non BGA. Thank you so much.

Kind regards,
Gerald

  • Hello Gerald,

Unfortunately for the TM4C129x family, LCD controller capability is only offered with the BGA package. This is because of how many pins are needed for the LCD controller interface. They are not all brought out on the 128-pin PDT package.

A 800x480x24 LCD is possible to support, but would require external memory to store the pixel data.

I don't think we have any fit for such an LCD application without BGA, sorry.

    Best Regards,

    Ralph Jacobi
