MSP432E411Y: MSP432P what happend to this product line?

Part Number: MSP432E411Y

We are using the MSP432P411Y with SimpleLink and TI-RTOS for our IoT device. We have produced some prototypes and everything is working fine. But last day I needed the datasheet and could not find it on the TI website. The support team told me that this MCU line was set to CUSTOMER state and is no more available for new customers. Also the support is limited. In my opinion it is very close to the end of life state. The MSP432E types are not an alternative for us. Can anyone give me some background info why this product line (MSP430 periphery with ARM core) is not longer available? What does the customer state of an product mean for delivery times and/or minimum order quantities? Will the same happen to the MSP432E line? Will the MSP432P series activated after the delivery problems caused by the covid crisis are resolved?

Regards

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

This is specific to the MSP432P product line and is unlikely to change. Please reach out to your TI sales representative for direct support and technical content access.

  • Thank you for your answer. I had to post it under the topic MSP432E, because MSP432P is no longer available.

I'm dissapointed from TI. No distributer knows from the problem that the MSP432P line is not recommended for new designs. The info I get from different distributers was: Status active and can be ordered with 52-76 week lead time! Terrible.

Has anyone background information why the product line MSP432P was shifted in this very dark corner without any info to the customers?

Or can you tell me a contact person at TI who can give me more informations?

  • Hi Michael,

I recommend that you contact your TI sales representative.  I don't have any background information regarding this business decision.

  • Hi Michael, I'm really frustrated with TI's behavior. I don't understand that you skipped lifecycle "not recommended for new design" and "last time buy" in the MSP432P series. Which next product will be canceled in the same way? MSP432E, TM4C, MSP430, or all MCUs? I'm looking for another manufacturer for the replacement of MSP432P because my confidence in the TI is near zero right now.

  • I'm afraid I have to agree with Jiri, I doubt I'll be using any TI processors in future after this. We have circuit boards made and software written & tested for MSP432P, a large investment of time. For TI to just vapourise this family with zero notice is quite unbelievable. What a dreadful way to treat customers. Certainly not a way for a company that wants to keep it's customers to behave......

    Very angry indeed.....
