AM2431: Additional Hardware and pricing

Part Number: AM2431
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2432, , AM2434

Dear TI-Support,

I would like to use the AM243X microcontroller for industrial ethernet communication as a companion-chip with another Host-CPU.

I know that the AM243X is still in developement - nonetheless I am a little bit confused about the pricing, because AM2431, AM2432 and AM2434 cost the same on the TI website. There must be a difference in pricing between them, because of their performance. Can you give any suggestions about the price differences or the final pricings?

Another question is about the additional hardware needed. Due to the smaller price, package and Pre-integrated Stacks Enabled, I would like to go for the "XAM2431ASFGGAALX". Now I wonder if I need additional RAM and/or Flash Memory for our application or are the protocol stacks running completely on the internal RAM? Does the ...ALX version of the AM243X series even support additional RAM?

Best Regards,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

    Thanks to reach out.

The price at ti.com today is for the "superset" prototype materials, and the final price should be much lower than that. We are working on it now, which should be available at ti.com by this month. The AM2431 1ku price will start with ~$6.

We'll support the pre-integrated stack on AM2432 and AM2434, for both two packages. And we offer 2MB on-chip SRAM, which should be sufficient to run TI pre-integrated stack and the biggest stack is around 1MB so far. But you may need to consider the size of your application code and decide if additional RAM or Flash is needed. We don't have on-chip Flash on AM243x family.
