I have an input filter that connects to an ADC in the MCU mentioned here. I want to characterize my systems overall noise or SNR. I'm wondering if my approach is correct.
To measure SNR on my system to characterize my overall system do I input a sine wave into my circuit with maximum dynamic range (my range is 0-3.3V) and sample the data. Once I have the data run the data through an FFT? I basically am looking to characterize my overall circuit rather than just the input amps or just the ADC separately.
With this approach my signal chain looks like the following:
(Signal Generator) -> (input filter) -> (ADC) = digital data for FFT
Could someone shed some light on my approach and what I might be missing?
