[FAQ] AM263x: What is the “SC1” feature in the IBIS Model?

In the AM263x IBIS Model.

What is the “SC1” feature?

Can it be enabled/disabled in firmware?

Is this is related to silicon binning or some other functionality?

  • The IBIS model text could be better written as “SC1 is a relative slew rate selection pin".

The feature cannot be enabled or disabled, only configured as 1 or 0.

The value of SC1 is controlled by the MSS_IOMUX – PADCFG CTRLMMR register bit 10 (also named SC1).

    IO Slew Rate Control bit.

1 = Lower slew rate (default reset value)

0 = Higher slew rate (must be manually configured by user application)

These values do not reflect discrete slew rates but rather a relatively higher slew rate value or the default  “lower” slew rate value. Outside of this control bit, the baseline slew rate is influenced by multiple factors including silicon process, voltage buffer design, device operating temperatures, device age, and pin usage/aging, among others.

An example IOMUX register is shown below for the EPWM12_B (J4) ball.
