TMS570LS0714-S: Changing TMS570LS1224 with LS0714-S

Part Number: TMS570LS0714-S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hi All,

Due to the supply-chain issues, we want to change LS1224 with LS0714-S for one of our products.

For both controller, Flash and RAM size is quite enough for my application.

Even so, i have some concerns about changing the MCU;

1- R4 and R5 seems does not have major difference. Do you forsee any conflict about using different core ?

2- I try to change MCU from CCS IDE and could not see LS0714-S. Only LS0714 is selectable and it indicates core is CortexR4. Do you think this will be an issue for compiling the project for the right MCU ? I am able to select 7R5 in processor options of compiler.

Is there anything else you would like to draw attention to on this subject?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Furkan,

    Apologies for typo in the product page

    Actually, TMS570LS0714-S is not cortex-R5 based controller. In fact, it is also a cortex-R4F based controller.

    You can verify the block diagrams, datasheet and TRM etc to confirm the same.

    Thanks for pointing out this typo and we will correct it.

    Yes, there won't be any separate part numb er for LS0714-S in CCS studio and HALCoGen and as it is comes into the same LS0414 family we have to just select the same part number while creating project.

    The only care we have to consider is, we have to configure respective supported frequency through PLL1
