We are using TM4C123G in our product development. We have a query, Is there any requirement of external GPIO for setting BOOTCFG register, Is it mandatory to use or it can be controlled internally. We are assuming It can be used to implement recovery modes, special boot modes, or secure booting.

    Hi,

In the BOOTCFG register, if you enable for Boot GPIO and the specified GPIO matches the specified polarity and phase then the ROM bootloader will be entered even in the presence of a valid application firmware in the flash. Once the ROM bootloader is entered, you can reflash the firmware through one of the detected interfaces.

Please also refer to the Bootloader user's guide for details.

  • Hi,

Can you elaborate what is not clear with my answer? You rejected my answer without giving a reason. I thought the datasheet and the Bootloader user's guide explains how to use a GPIO to force the MCU into ROM bootloader in order to update the application firmware again.

  • Hi,

I have not heard back from you. I will close the thread. If you have any update you can write back and the thread will automatically reopen.
