Hello experts,
we are developing control card for both AM2634 and TMS320F28379D. Can somebody suggest JTAG suitable for both series.

Hello Anoop,
Both Control Cards should be able to be debugged using the on-board debugger via micro-USB cable to a host PC.
Alternatively, an external emulator can be used for both if you are using the TMDSHSECDOCK. There are many different options for external debuggers but you must make sure that it is compatible with the 14 pin JTAG connector of the HSEC dock.

Erik
Dear Erik
Thankyou for your time. We are not going use hsec180 docking station. the both control card we developing for an OBC application where these board stacked on the power board.
TMDSEMU200-U — XDS200 USB Debug Probe is we already using for c2000, but AM2634 board is still in developing stage. can we use the same jtag for am2634 ?
Hello Anoop,
The TMDSCNCD263 comes equipped with an on-board XDS110 debug probe. The Micro-USB port is used to connect to the XDS110 debug probe.
In order to use an external debugger with the TMDSCNCD263, you will require the TMDSHSECDOCK (or another docking solution that has a JTAG connector pinout) as there is no JTAG connector pinout on the Control Card.
You mentioned a power board, is this connected by the HSEC? Does the power board have a way to interface to an external debug probe?
How are you interfacing the XDS200 probe to the C2000 Control Card?
Regards,
Erik
Dear erik,
understood ur point.
1. We cannot use the on board debugger in TMDSCNCD263 since we can only go with automotive parts & for a product point of view we dont need it our board. so external debuggers preferred..
2. For Tms320f28379d, we have terminatd the debugg points in 14 pin connector with in the control board itself as shown in figure. and the debugg probe we are using is TMDSEMU200-U — XDS200
3. the same external debugger is planning for AM2634 & my doubt is TMDSEMU200-U — XDS200 is compactable to AM2634 as well ?

Anoop,
The AM2634 is compatible with the XDS200 Debug probe. How are you planning on interfacing the JTAG signals to the AM263x Control Card?
Are you planning on having both devices on the same JTAG serial scan chain? If so, please consider the recommendations in chapter 19 of the Emulation and Trace Headers TRM
Regards,
Erik
No, we will be using two jtag, two different boards. this is just for a confirmation, Since in XDS200 product web page, under supported device list we didnt found AM263.
Anoop,
There is no issue with using the XDS200 with the AM2634 device. However, the issue would be in how you are interfacing with the device. If you are not using the on-board debug probe for JTAG, then you must use the JTAG signals that are routed to the HSEC. There is no header to interface with the XDS200 on the Control Card.

Erik
