LP-AM263P: What is the purpose of EPWM Group?

In SysConfig for LP-AM263P, there is a setting for EPWM Group, which can be set to group 0 - 3. Changing this doesn't seem to change any of the settings apart from the base register address. So what does changing the group number do? I couldn't find any mentions of it in the reference manual
