TMS570LS2134: Asking recommended MCU for new development

Hi there,

We're currently planning the development of a new airborne product and the TMS570 familly of MCU are in our radar.

However, the previous MCU that we've used in the previous project TMS570LS2134 is many years old (before 2013) and I would like to have TI's recommendation for a new and similar MCU. The new program lifespan shall be at least 15 years from now, as for other airborne products.

Thank you for any insight on TI's TMS570 products roadmap.

Hi Chuck,

TMS570LC435x is one of the latest device of Hercules family. It is Cortex-R5 based MCU.

Thanks for the quick reply. However we need to stick with PGE LQFP 144-pin package.

Any other suggestion?

Could you let me know why those MCU LS122x/LS09x/LS07xx devices are better than the TMS570LS2134 to start a new project that will has at least 15-20 years lifespan?

Are they equivalent or replacements for the older TMS570LS2134?

Hi Chuck,

All the parts in the Hercules platform are going to be supported. There is no plan to make any of these parts "Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)".

Hi Sunil,

I understand that all current and future TMS570 family devices will be supported by TI for a long time to come, but I'm more concerned about the parts obsolescence aspect of the device, not development support.

In the end, my goal is to obtain assurance that in 15-20 years from now, it will be still possible to buy those devices TMS570LS2134 for production or support uses.

Chuck,

Please note that TI makes an effort to not obsolete products out of convenience. Convenience means a low running device, poor yields, limited customer adoption or similar items. TI’s obsolescence withdrawal schedule provides a much longer lead time than the industry standard. Currently we do not have any plans for obsolescence...as such, we are glad that you have been using TMS570LS2134 in your previous project and look forward to you continuing to using TMS570LS2134 in your future projects.
