Hi team,

Just wondering if we have any device able to replace the SC18IM700. This is a UART to I2C bridge.

Hello Carlos,

Although we do not have a ready made solution as we do for UART-SPI bridge or UART-UART Baud Rate bridge (e2e.ti.com/.../25-functions-for-25-cents-an-introduction-to-using-mcus-for-simple-function-enhancement ), just about any MSP430 with both a UART interface and an I2C interface could be a good fit. You could possibly do it on devices with an I2C with a SW I2C solution, but this will take up more memory.

If your customing is just looking to replace a single component, I would suggest using the MSP430FR2310 or MSP430G2233. You could also use a bigger MSP430 to combine several system functionalities along with this bridge together. Thank you. This seems like a very sensible option, can we assist the customer by providing some example code in support of the application?

Hello Carlos,

As stated before, we currently do not have a solution for this in place. We do have example code for both UART and I2C operations for most devices which can be found at dev.ti.com/.../ . Check out the [Device]_eusci_[UART/I2C]_standard_[Master/Slave/Transceiver].c examples.

It would be up to you or the end customer to piece these together for their specific needs.
