TM4C123GE6PM: Can you tell if a host->device usb connection has been made?

Hello,

I'm using TI hardware to design a USB device. I have a software application on the host (PC) that connects and communicates to it. If I have two devices plugged in with the same VID,PID but unique SNs can I fgure out of there is an open connection to a device already? I'm trying to prevent my software host app from connecting to the same device twice - I'd like to force the user to select a different device if the current device already has a connection (pipe I think) to the software application.

Hello Robbie,

Yes that is definitely possible, there are a number of USB events which occur during connection that are tracked, so your host would be able to know the connection status (or disconnection status) via these events. As far as what specific events to use, you'd have to check your USB host specifications for details but typically there are events for initial connection, enumeration, and ready/open.

Thanks Jacobi! I'll do some more reading around and check out the USB 2.0 host spec then.
