TM4C1297NCZAD: Facing issues while using USB to program my Tiva controller

Part Number: TM4C1297NCZAD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EK-TM4C1294XL, EK-TM4C123GXL

I have been programming my Tiva controller through parallel port using JTAG connector for some time now. But how can i program it through USB port of my laptop? Is there any IC that can convert the USB serial data to parallel or do i need to design a circuit including a controller to do the same?

Thanks,

Naman

  • You can buy a scan controller that connects to the PC by USB and to the TM4C129 by JTAG. There are several levels with the more expensive being faster. This one is $99 USD: www.ti.com/.../TMDSEMU110-U
A cheap solution is to buy an EK-TM4C123GXL launchpad. It connects to the PC by USB and by adding wires can be used to connect to the JTAG pins of your target system. Slightly more expensive is the EK-TM4C1294XL launchpad. It has the advantage that it can also be used for developing code since it has a TM4C1294 target device on it as well as the JTAG programmer.
