TM4C1230H6PM: TM4C parts ending in "R" are pre-production?

Part Number: TM4C1230H6PM

I was about to place an order for some Parts TM4C123GH6PMIR parts since they are cheaper than the TM4C123GH6PMI (no "R" at the end) by a couple of bucks.  However, when I went to place the order on the TI site, the checkout cart showed these were "pre-production" parts.  I found the same with TM4C1230H6PMIR parts.

The pages for these parts don't mention them as "pre-production", yet when I go to buy them I get a warning.  Are all part variants ending in "R" "pre-production"?  Why doesn't the page for the parts mention their production status?  I'm concerned about designing them into a project and then discover I made a mistake if TI decides to not go into production.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

  • Hi,

Please find below. The R at the end means tape and reel.

When I go to the product website, below is what I see for TM4C123GH6PMI . Only the shipping in tray is available. I do not see any statement that says pre-production. In any case, for purchasing issues, this is not really the place to submit the question as this is a forum for technical discussion. Please understand I don't know how to handle purchasing orders. Our customer support will be able to assist you at this website.

  • Charles,

Thanks for the link.  l'll contact TI through that and see what I find out.

Also, as I said in my post, the part page does not show the "pre-production" status, only the cart in the checkout when ordering from TI:

    Thanks again!

  • Hello Peter,

While Charles is right that E2E is more for technical support and not purchasing queries, I do happen to know what is going on there with what you are seeing so I'll give you a quick answer.

It's just a system error with some of the Revision 6 devices that is causing them to be incorrectly displayed in the system as Pre-Production. They should have the same 'Active' status as their Revision 7 counterparts. They are all already in production. We are aware of the issue are working to fix it.

Once that is resolved, they should also show up properly on the TI.com product pages.

Sorry for the confusion this caused.
