TMS320F280021: F28002x FLASH programming thru CAN

Part Number: TMS320F280021
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Good day Colleagues,

My customer is trying to migrate from STM to F28002x family.

Could you help to answer his questions below?

1) He is saying TI app notes have limited information about the CAN. So he is asking, if boot-loader can make FLASH programming thru CAN interface?

2) Customer didn't find CAN boot-loader protocol description for the F28002x. Could you help to find any documentation about it?

3) What software is better to use for programming thru SCI? (for Windows and Linux)

4) Are there any limitations for SCI loader or it can program any of sections?

Thank you, Mikhail

  • 1. Bootloader cant make direct programming to flash. You need to download intermediate flash programmer which will receive the application and program to flash. This is called flash kernel in C2000ware.

    2. This is present in chapter "4.7.6.2.5 CAN Boot Mode" of TRM

    3. i suppose anything can be used, i dont see one having advantage over the other.

    4. you can program any of the flash sectors. But the limitations mentioned in point 1 applies here as well.
