TMS320F28032: PMSM Sensorless, Rotor JAM Detection

Part Number: TMS320F28032

Hi,

We could run the PMSM Motor with Sensorless FOC.

Issues:

Is there any way to detect Rotor Rotor Jam/Stand-Still state due to Mechanical JAM of Pump?

Tried to monitor values of Ealpha and Ebeta variables of ESMOPOS, expecting that these variables represent BACK-EMF generated by Motor Rotation. Whereas values of these variables is changing even when the Rotor of Motor is not rotating.

Also the Output Theta value of ESMOPOS also changing even though Rotor of Motor is not rotating. We were thinking that while rotor is not rotating the Theta value of ESMOPOS would be around Zero or constant value (not changing).

Please suggest a solution to detect the Rotor Jam/Stand-Still state.

  • Sensorless methods are not good and unreliable in low speed range. Jam detection will have to be based on over current condition or something else like that. We dont have any example or solution for that, and the user will have to come up with what works for their application.
