TMDSCNCD28388D: PWM Pin functions on edge connector

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28388D

Hello. I am interested in using EPWM1 through EPWM16 on the 28388 processor. The TMDSCNCD2838x_RevB_180cCARD_pinout.pdf file shows that, for example, pin 67 is SPISIMO. However the schematic routes the signal to pin E1 of the BGA, which is GPIO_16, which can also be used (per the TMS320F2838x datasheet) for EPWM9A.

Is there anything about the controlCARD that will prevent using the GPIO pins as EPWM? See attachment below.

Best Regards, Charlie

  • Charles,

no, the signal is just routed. We label the standard use of each pin in the HSEC standard and then assign a pin to fulfill that requirement. This helps with customers who design their own baseboards such that they can switch between different controlCARDs and know that PWMs will be available in xyz locations no matter which controlCARD is used.

The controlCARD layout does not have any bearing on the GPIO mux configuration, however some signals do have additional circuitry on them, so watch out for those. (GPIO 31 and GPIO 34 for example are connected to LEDs)

    Regards,
    Cody
