TIEVM-HV-1PH-DCAC: Limitations of features (switching frequency, output, output frequency)

Genius 5350 points
Part Number: TIEVM-HV-1PH-DCAC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC

Hi experts,

Please let me check about TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC.https://www.tij.co.jp/tool/jp/TIEVM-HV-1PH-DCAC

This reference design can be used to achieve the following
Switching frequency: 20kHz
Output: 110Vrms
Output frequency: 60 Hz

Using this reference design as a guide, can I modify the software of the C2000 to achieve the following?
Switching frequency: 100kHz
Output: 110Vrms
Output frequency: 30kHz

My concern is that I could not determine if the C2000 (F2837xD and F28004x) can support a switching frequency of 100kHz. Based on TIDUB21D's "2.2.2.6 F2837x and F2807x" and the C2000's PWM performance, I believe it can, but any advice would be appreciated. We will make changes to each component if necessary to achieve the specifications.

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hi O.H,

First of all, it seems like your switching frequency and the frequency of interest are so close.

Due to the PWM switching effect, the phase will drop significantly at around the switching frequency and you are not going to regulate the output at the desired frequency (30 kHz).

Second, I believe it has silicon based power switches and not sure if this can operate at 100 kHz.

    Best,

    John

  • Hi Jhon_K,

I'm sorry for the late reply.

I understood. I have passed on your feedback to my customer. And I will create another thread if any issues arise as we move forward with the design.

    Thank you for your support!

    Best regards,
    O.H
