TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC: Grid connected mode: Using SFRA with grid connected mode to extract plant model and more

Part Number: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SFRA

HI all

1. Can you please explain how SFRA can be used in the grid connected mode to extract the bode plot and plant transfer function.
Project documentation doesn't provide how SFRA can be used to extract the model and design the controller. It only says controller is designed from "parameters" which is not specified.
Does the standalone mode transfer function applies to the grid connected mode?.

2. what is the point of using DC TEST in an AC converter.?

3. When will the relay is closed?. what is the criteria used for the relay close.? Is there any suggestions to match the amplitude of the inverter output and the grid voltage before connect it to the grid and smoothly begin the current controller.

Regards
Damith

  • 1. For grid connected inverter we use the mathematical model to design the first set of coefficients, this is then checked in DC mode to safely test the system. There is no way to safely measure plant alone for a grid connected system by running it in open loop.

    2. Using DC test is to safely design the control of the converter, if you have confidence in the control from the start you can use direct grid test.

    3. As this was low power design, we did not implement any mechanism to have the voltage close to the grid voltage.

  • Thank you for the information.

How effective this dc test when comparing with the AC test?. What are the known limitations?.

Can you please comment on that.
