TMDSCNCD280025C: Universal Motor Control Project on HV Kit with Own Motor

I am currently running our 1 HP motor on TI’s HV kit with the use of Universal Motor Control Project. We are facing one problem in Level 3 build.

Our observations are as follows:

  1. Motor is running at reference speed in open loop
  2. The estimated /feedback speed is not stable. The value of actual speed is fluctuating.
  3. Angle estimated by FAST Observer is also not stable.

P.S: Graph shows the Estimator Angle using the Data log feature. 

I request you to help us in resolving this issue. 

Note: I did went to Build Level 4 and tried to run motor but then module over current fault along with phase lost faults comes. This is must be due to bad feedback signal from observer. 

  • You may follow the user's guide to run the motor in build level 2 first, to verify the current and voltage sensing signals with the DATALOG and PWMDAC since you are using the High Voltage Kit. Don't run the next build level if the current or voltage feedback signals are not correct.

  • The problem with build level 2 is that, as soon as I set bit to start the motor then module over current fault is getting triggered. hence, motor cant even run due to fault. 

    Also, build Level 1 did work fine. 

  • Please make sure that the hardware and software settings are correct as shown in the lab user's guide for using the high voltage kit.

    1. The switches setting on TMDSCNCD280025C and TMDSADAP180TO100.

    2. Select the right build configurations for he high voltage kit.

    3. Try to set the right v/f profile parameters according to the motor, and run the the motor without load in this build level.

    Please be note that this lab just supports PMSM/BLDC for sensorless/sensored-FOC.

    If you tune the v/f profile and , but the motor can'r run smoothly with over current fault, you have to check if the power inverter is good for motor drive.
