LAUNCHXL-F28027F: DRV 8305

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8305, , TMDSCNCD28027, C2000WARE, MOTORWARE, LAUNCHXL-F28069M

Hello sir,

1. I have Piccolo F28027F + DRV8305. I have 24 Pole 18 slot sensorless BLDC Motor. Can I drive this motor using F28027F + DRV8305.

2.One more question is if I want to drive this motor on sensored microcontroller by connecting external Hall sensor then which controller will be suitable.

  • 1. Yes if the maximum current and voltage of the motor are less than the supporting value of the DRV8305.

    2. All of the C2000 controllers can be used for connecting external Hall sensor. F2806xF should be easy to implemented this.

  • Okay sir

    Thank you

If I am now connecting external hall sensors so which project labs can I use for controlling motor.

For sensorless motor i Used lab 01 to lab 05b.

Now as I am converting sensorless motor to sensored motor by connecting external hall sensors so which labs should I use for controlling

  • You may refer to lab11e for using hall sensor. It's just a reference, you have to change something per your requirements.

  • Hello

I have now connected LaunchXL F28027F and DRV8305EVM. I have connected sensored motor at MOTA,MOTB,MOTC of DRV8305. Gave 12v supply between GND and PVDD to DRV8305. Identified motor parameters using Lab 02 to 05 and modified USER.H file. Connected hall sensors input  at  J1- PIn2 (hall A), Pin6 (hall B) and Pin 10(Hall C). Is there anything I need to connect  ( Hardware related like Power supply for hall sensor  ) or modify code or simply by building lab11e will run motor.

  • Hello

In lab11e it is written that "F28027 control card only supports High voltage kit. Connect the motor and power supply to the kit and use hall input on HALL/CAP connector of the kit. Set SW2(4-5) and SW3(1-2,4-5) on F28027F control card."

I am not getting exact meaning -Use hall input on HALL/CAP connector of the kit --- Does it mean use supply at J3 of control card for sensors?

Could not find SW2(4-5) and SW3(1-2,4-5) on control card. There are only S1 and S4 switches. Where are SW3 & SW2?

  • The DRV8305 EVM and  LaunchXL-F28027F don't have any interface header for hall sensor. The inverter board mus have the hall sensor interface circuit and header for using LaunchXL-F28027F or F28027F controlCard.

If using high voltage kit with F28027F control card, the hall sensor will be connected to H1 header.

That means the switch on F28027F controlCARD TMDSCNCD28027, not on LAUNCHXL-F28027F. You can find the schematic of the TMDSCNCD28027 at the folder in C2000Ware.

  • Please follow the InstaSPIN lab's guide to run the related labs. The guide can be found at the folder of MotorWare as below.

As mentioned above, LaunchXL-F28027F with DRV8305EVM can't run the motor using lab11e with hall sensor directly since there is no hall sensor interface on both kits.

You might try to use the LaunchXL-F28069M with DRV8305EVM if you have.
