TMS320F28379D: I have a question about Peripheral Software Reset on TMS320F28379D

In the F2837xD_usb_flash_kernels_cpu01 example, There is USB_Boot.c

Here is the code for Peripheral Software Reset as shown in the picture below.

I don't understand what USB_A represents in this code.

I wonder if this code works when the USB connect to J8 is connected to the PC. If I don't connect J8 USB Connector, Can't I use the example above?

Hi,

USB_A would represent the USB peripheral itself on the F2838x device. These peripheral signals connect to J8, so connection to your PC would be required. Please follow all instructions typically in the comments at the top of our SW examples for proper running.

Thank you for letting me know.

Actually, I don't use the J8 connection and want to reset the power. I searched the forum and someone said SOFTPRES7(SCI) can also reset the power. Is it right??

I try to find the example or code about SOFTPRES7 but I can't find it. Please let me know if you have example or code (I intend to use J1 connection).

I don't understand what you mean by "reset the power". Are you trying to cycle power to the board? that is, turn off and turn on the power? If so, there are two options:

If you are using the ControlCard without the docking station, you can only do this by disconnecting and reconnecting J1.
If you are using the docking station, you can use the power switch in the docking station.

Yes. I mean turn off and turn on the power. Actually, I'm using the docking station now.

I don't want to use the power switch. I want to use a code for power switch in CCS. I mean the program automatically turn off and turn on the power.

I also searched the forum about that. I can't find it. Is it impossible??

In CCS debugging, we can click the CPU reset button and Resume button. I wonder it is also impossible to make CPU reset and Resume code.

Like above question, I want to make program automatically perform CPU reset and Resume.

Actually, I want to flash the program and restart it without using J8 connection and Docking station power switch.

When you Reset, the Program Counter will point to a location in BootROM. So you cannot simply "resume" code.

Not possible.

This may be possible with some scripting, but you have to write it yourself.
