TMS320C2801: How to program and read and erase the device

Part Number: TMS320C2801

Hi Team,

Could you please help our customer's concern below.

I am trying to program the TMS320C2801PZ device. When I tried to program the device i am not able to program it. There is some security password. Please enlight me on how to use that and I made the address marked in red as 0x000 as prescribed in the datasheet. Then the device got inaccessible . The security Lock region got become zero and the entire memory range is 0 and not accessible. Please help me find the correct way to program the device.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Jonathan,

TMS320C2801 are ROM devices and cannot be erased/programmed. It is highly unlikely you have those parts. What you have is likely TMS320F2801, which are the flash parts.

It is hard to explain the CSM operation in a e2e post. Please go through the Reference Guide and let us know if you have specific questions

It appears your device is inadvertently locked. It is conceivable that you programmed all zeroes in the password locations. In any case, if you do not know the passwords, you cannot unlock the device. If you have the .out file you programmed the device with, you could convert it to  a hex file to figure out the words that got programmed in the password locations.

  • Hi,@Hareesh Janakiraman
The device is TMS320C2801PZA and it has flash and OTP memory
Please enlight me on how to program the device and perform erase and read operations.
How to use the keys? I am new to the device and not able to understand how to program and erase the device without locking.

  • Ganesh,

Once again, TMS320C2801 is a ROM device. It does not have Flash or OTP. What you have is likely TMS320F2801, which is a flash part. As mentioned before, it is hard to explain the CSM operation in a e2e post. Please go through the Reference Guide ( www.ti.com/lit/SPRU712 ) and let us know if you have specific questions. Our workshop material provides a simple introduction to the device, so that would be a great place to start.
