TIDM-02010: Module over current in a 5kw PMSM drive

We are trying to drive a 5kW PMSM through the 1.5kW HVAC drive of TI.

We are using the same tidm-02010 and dual motor control algorithm for driving the motor.

We have changed the motor parameters according to 5kW motor and when enabling motorVars[0] we are getting module over current fault.

The parameters of 5kW PMSM are

5kW, 200 V, 18 A, 6000 rpm, 2pole, Rs= 2ohm, Ld = 1.71mh, Lq = 1.81mH, inertia = 0.000586575.

Kindly help us in knowing why module over current occurs. What are the parameters that lead to module over current.

Please follow the guide to run the motor in build level 2 and 3 with light load or without load first to see if there is still an over current.

Make sure that the GPIO, PWM, ADC and CMPSS are configured correctly if you are using own board.

Yes. We are using the TI reference guide and code of dmpfc. we are trying to run only by changing the motor parameters

As mentioned in the thread you posted. Please try to run the motor in build level 2 and 3 to see if there is any over current fault.

If not, that means the motor parameters are not correct, set the correct parameters in user_mtr1.h and run the motor without load first to check if there is still over-fault. Or try to run a small PMSM first since the maximum output power of the board is 1.5KW at 200VAC.
