TMS320F28069M: Checking for differences between TMS320F28069M parts

Part Number: TMS320F28069M

Hello,

I have custom boards from two different assembly shops with TMS320F28069M processors. There are differences in the performance of the two controllers and I want to determine if it is the processor firmware or some other non-TI component. I have checked the Device Debug Registers as specified in Section 8.4 of the datasheet. They are the same for both processors.

DEVICECNF: 0x080F006B
CLASSID: 0x009F
REVID: 0x0002
PARTID: 0x009E

Here are the markings from the two chips:

I also am interested if the version of the FAST estimator is the same in ROM. Is this something that may be checked in Code Composer Studio Version: 11.1.0.00011? Is there any thing else I should check to ensure that the software is the same?

Thanks

  • Hi James

Our expert will get back on this issue today.

  • James,

You have not elaborated on exactly what the “differences in the performance of the two controllers” are. If the Device Debug Registers are identical between the devices, then they are identical in every way, including the ROM contents. Some ideas to pursue:

    1. If you are using the INTOSC, look for difference in their output frequency. If you are using an external crystal, make sure they are both the same frequency.
    2. Check if the flash contents are exactly identical. Download the flash contents as a hex file and use a tool like Beyondcompare to spot differences.
    3. You can do the same thing for ROM.
