TMS320F28035-Q1: TMS320F28035-Q1 internal clock

Part Number: TMS320F28035-Q1

Dear TI experts,

I have a question about the application of the F28035-Q1 in automotive inverters and motor control systems. Is it reliable to use the internal clock source instead of an external crystal? Are there any similar use cases? Is there anything that needs special attention? Thanks!

  • Rogers,

My only input here is for customer to be aware of the tolerance of the internal oscillator(which is in the DS), which is at +/-4.25% about 10MHz.  If this tolerance is acceptable for the application, then I do not have a concern here.  Automotive applications typically use CAN bus, which has a 1% overall clock tolerance, so an external oscillator would likely be needed if that bus is being used.

    Best,

    Matthew
