TMS320F28069M: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN

Part Number: TMS320F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, MOTORWARE

Hi Team,

Here're some issues from the customer may need your help:

1. During the lab5c experiment with the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN kit, the LD1 on the control card keeps flashing.

2. What is the maximum motor inertia that this system can recognize? The customer's target is 0.893Kg*m^2, is it achievable?

Thanks & Regards

Yale Li

  • 1. During the lab5c experiment with the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN kit, the LD1 on the control card keeps flashing.

This LED is power supply that should be constant light. That means the 3.3V power supply from the LDO has some issue if the LED keeps flashing.

    2. What is the maximum motor inertia that this system can recognize? The customer's target is 0.893Kg*m^2, is it achievable?

No data for this. It should be ok for InstaSPIN-Motion.

  • Hi Yanming,

    Thanks for your reply.

It should be ok for InstaSPIN-Motion.

Does this mean that InstaSPIN-FOC is not possible?

The customer keeps increasing the inertia in the experiment. Identify inertia according to this interface:

Convert the unit to Kg*m^2 according to the following formula:

PI parameters are calculated according to the PI calculation formula in this document: MotorWare\motorware_1_01_00_18\docs\labs

In the process of driving the motor, the motor oscillates severely. Is this the inappropriate PI calculation caused by inaccurate inertia identification?

    Thanks & Regards

InstaSPIN-FOC doesn't identify the inertia, and doesn't need inertia for the FAST estimator. The inertia is just a optional parameter for calculating the Kp&Ki of the speed controller.

The inertia should be a constant value for a motor/machine. How did the user to increase the inertia in their experiment? What do they want?

  • Hi Yanming,

    Thanks.

The customer use InstaSPIN-Motion to identify the inertia. Then use this inertia to calculate Kp&Ki that is provided to InstaSPIN-FOC to control motor.

The customer's experiment need to change inertia because their motor need to combine with loads, and these loads is regarded as one part of motor. They use a brake pad and a clutch to change the inertia.

    Thanks & Regards

  • It's an optional to use the Inertia to calculate the Kp&Ki for speed controller. The user should tune these two parameters according to their system.

It's not a real inertia in their case. The inertia should be difficult to identify if the load is variable, especially is changed with the speed.
