TMDSHVRESLLCKIT: Compatibility with newer device like TMS320F28003x

Genius 15059 points

Part Number: TMDSHVRESLLCKIT

Hi Experts,

Would like to confirm if the new devices TMS320F280038C and TMS320F280039C, do support the reference design:

Please advise.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

The reference design employs F2802x device family.  Newer device F28003x has higher operating frequency and has more peripherals than F28002x and for similar peripherals found on F2802x most of them would have been updated with the latest revision.  Moreover, pinouts on the F2802x would be different from F28003x.  Short answer is that F28003x cannot be a direct replacement for /f28002x in the TMDSHVRESLLCKIT.  There would have to be some HW/schematic change and software changes to account for the differences in the peripherals and device maximum frequencies.

    Regards,

    Joseph

  • Hello Joseph,

    Thank you for this information.

That all makes sense. It looks like the kit utilizes the https://www.ti.com/tool/CONTROLSUITE.
Would these control suite software work with the newer F28003x?
    Thank you.

  • Hi Archie,

CONTROLSUITE is no longer being updated.  Newer devices like F28003x use C2000WARE for the drivers and software examples.  Driver functions and examples in CONTROLSUITE have been replicated in C2000WARE where applicable to help with device migrations such as F2802X to F28003X.

    Best regards,

    Joseph

  • Hello Joseph,

    Thanks for the information.

Would like to follow up, Does C2000WARE have the libraries to support TMDSHVRESLLCKIT functionality?

    Happy Holidays,
    Archie A.

  • Hi Artzy,

C2000ware does not have the library to support TMDSHVRESLLCKIT which is a legacy design. You can refer to TIDA-010062(LLC stage) in the digital power sdk for the f28003x based s/w.
