TMS320F2808: Dual CAN transceiver to single

Part Number: TMS320F2808

A project is using Dual CAN bus topology where each node supports two independent CAN buses which enables single fault tolerance.

Dual CAN transceiver AMIS42770ICAW1RG is becoming obsolete so we have to find another solution.

Currently this components takes 2 physical CAN bus lines and outputs single RX and TX to a single CAN controller/module on MCU. In case a fault (like short circuit) is present on one of the

bus lines, it remains limited to that bus line where it occurs. Data interchange from the protocol IC to the other bussystem and on this bus system itself can be continued. The logic unit inside AMIS−42770 provides data transfer from/to the digital interface to/from the two busses and from one bus to the other bus.

This chip seems to be "one of a kind" so the alternative solution is to use 2 single CAN transceivers and utilize both CAN modules on MCU, however the functionality from previous sentence is then gone and has to be implemented in another way.

Below is the drawing that hopefully helps with explanation..
