TMDSCNCD280025C: Powering and debugging code with just a USB connection

I am currently trying to connect to the control card mentioned above via a USB connection without a docking station. When attempting to use CCS to connect to my board I am given the error "2131 - Unable to access device register.". I have tried restarting the board and ensured that the probe being used is correct however the problem still persists. Is it possible to run code on this card with just a USB connection or do I require the docking station?

Hi,

It requires a docking station to power the target (F280025C) side of the board.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response, I did actually find a workaround for this by soldering a wire from TP1 to the anode of D1:A (5V USB input) and another wire from TP4 to the cathode of D2:A (USB GND). If you could let me know if this might cause any major issues I would appreciate it thanks.

Hi Conall.

This is bypassing the isolation boundary, but if you do not need isolation for your testing / evaluation then it should be fine.

Instead of soldering the wire to the Diode / LED pads you could use the testpoints circled in red below:
