TMS320F28035: PWM to drive GaN FET

Part Number: TMS320F28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm if the TMS320F28035 can generate 100 kHz PWM to drive GaN FET. The TRM shows that it can generate up to 2MHz but can it drive GaN Fet?

We have a solar microinverter solution prototype based on your TMDSSOLARUINVKIT. In our next HW version we want to use GaN FETs but we have some doubts if TMS320F28035 MCU is enough to generate 100 kHz on PWM. We want to use GaN FETs on DC-DC (40V/400V) module and DC-AC (400V DC / 230V AC) module.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Yes it is possible to generate 100kHz PWM and drive the GaN FETs. In addition to his, there is also a migration guide on using our new devices such as F28002x that will have additional software support such as using SysConfig, additional features to the PWM that is not on F2805x, and a higher operating frequency.

Here is the link to the migration guide from F2803x to F28002x.
