TMS320F28388D: Need of FSI adapter board evaluation module

Hi Ti,

i am using TMS320F28388D controller and i am exploring on FSI module.

i have checked the document spracm3e (Using the Fast Serial Interface (FSI) With Multiple Devices
in an Application), in that document the adapter board for FSI is mentioned as TMDSFSIADAPEVMs.

Now my question is Control card of controller TMS320F28388D contains Tx and Rx pins on J1 port for FSI, Without adapter board, Can i connect jumper wires between two control cards to test FSI communication?

Why adapter board is required to test the features of FSI module?

Yes, this will work however the wire communication length will be more limited without additional signal drivers / differential devices.

The FSI adapter board offers additional features to evaluate FSI with.

Digital Isolation
Differential devices (LVDS / RS-485) with twisted pair (RJ45 + CAT5/6 cable)
Isolated power
