TMDSCNCD2800157: Why TMDSCNCD2800157 product has two micro controllers on board? 1. TMS320F2800157 and MSP432E401YT ?

Part Number: TMDSCNCD2800157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2800157, MSP432E401Y

Kindly guide me why TMDSCNCD2800157 has below two micro controllers

1. TMS320F2800157

2. MSP432E401YT

Queries :

1. what is the use for the same or how its related to each other ?

2. Can we also refer TRM of MSP432E401Y to develop the SW for TMS320F2800157 ?

3. what is the difference between this two uC ?

4. Which processor is used for TMS320F2800157 micro controller ? where can i get processor information?

5. If TMS320F2800157 and MSP432E401YT are not same then why it is used on TMDSCNCD2800157 product ? (MSP432E401Y)

  • Hi Meet,

    Thanks for your question.

I believe the MSP is used for debugging interface. See from LAUNCHXL user guide:

So MSP on this board is not used for anything but the JTAG/emulator interface (it handles the comms).

The TMS320F2800157 on the other hand is the primary device that the TMDSCNCD2800157 board is meant to be showcasing. Processor for TMS320F2800157 microcontroller is TMS320F2800157. Information for that device is available in the product folder: https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320F2800157

    Regards,
