MOTORWARE: Getting started to a new design

Part Number: MOTORWARE

Hi .

Currently im looking for design application that requires smooth position control for servo drive application on cnc machines. I designed many of the high voltage drivers since i discovered Infieon Imotion technology. Imotion was very fast for sensorless foc based application(for fans,pumps,compressors etc.) and doenst require any coding knowloadge. But today, since i have not proper coding knowladge,  i m looking a codefree(or easy to build a software) way to design position feedback pmsm drivers.  So i had started to search on the web and found the motorware GUI that TI has been published.

Now i have some questions that before designing a software;

1) When using Motorware software , do i need to write code for my motor drive application ? If YES,  can i do this by using one of the published position controlled pmsm full project that has been already existed by TI ? By this way , i dont want to messing with the coding and control algorithm. Can you explaine me in detailes.

2) If there is a existing project for an evaluation board that can be used for my application position control pmsm drives , may i know the which one ?

3) Although I have already check the USERGuide document for Instaspin-FOC/MOTION  i cannot understand to where to start to configuring my software for my project. Is there any document that you suggest to me ? Any kind of tutorial video for complete application ?

As you can see i m a bit confused of using motorware software. Because of limited time of mine , its hard to start coding a mcu for such a complicated application. So im looking for a way to design easily without messing with codes and algorithm behind the screen.

Hope you understand clearly. If anything missing please let me know.

Many thanks.

    That depends on your applications. You may not need to write the code for spinning the motor, but you have to write the code to set the speed or command according to your applications.

    2) If there is a existing project for an evaluation board that can be used for my application position control pmsm drives , may i know the which one ?

    You can find the related EVM/Boards according to your motor or system on ti.com as below.

    Download and install motorware which has many example projects to support this kit, and follow the lab guide to understand these lab projects.

    Please take a look at the InstaSPIN lab guide (instaspin_labs.pdf) in the folder of motorWare, follow the operations to run the related labs. The lab guide has detailed operation steps about how to run these labs and the identified parameters.
