LAUNCHXL-F280025C: Position control using LAUNCHXL-F280025C + DRV8353RS-EVM

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F280025C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8353RS-EVM, , DRV8353, C2000WARE, TMDXIDDK379D

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

I am currently building software for FOC control + encoder position control with the following combination, referring to the original thread.

H/W: LAUNCHXL-F280025C + DRV8353RS-EVM + 1 servo motor (Teknic M-2310P-LN-04K)
S/W: dual_axis_servo_drive_fcl_qep_f28002x + SPI communication for DRV8353

Could you please give me some advice on the following questions?

Q1: At line 1267 of "dual_axis_servo_drive_cpu.c", tripFlagDMC is set and the software stops. Can you tell me how to avoid this?
TZFLG.OST is set after "EPWM_enableTripZoneSignals()" is executed in "dual_axis_servo_drive_hal.c", but I don't know why.

Q2: Is there a sample code for position control with a similar hardware combination to the above?

The details of the software are as follows.

  • CCS:v12, Compiler TI v22.0.6.LTS.
  • Base project path
    C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_MotorControl_SDK_5_02_00_00\solutions\boostxl_3phganin

[Changes]

  • Optimization: level 0 (off) . Level 4 by default.
  • Changes to "dual_axis_servo_drive_settings.h": BUILDLEVEL=1. Final goal is BUILDLEVEL=5.
  • Addition of "drv8353s.c", "drv8353s.h": For SPI communication with DRV8353. Referred to from Universal Lab.
  • Addition of "board.c", "board.h": Pin settings used for DRV8353.
  • Changes to "dual_axis_servo_drive_main_cpu.c": Added init(), enable(), setup(), read(), write() for DRV8353.
  • Changes to "dual_axis_servo_drive_user.h": Changed for DRV8353. Referred to Universal Lab's "hal.h".

The project used and the added source code are attached.

// Note that the vectorial sum of d-q PI outputs should be less than 1.0 which
// refers to maximum duty cycle for SVGEN. Another duty cycle limiting factor
// is current sense through shunt resistors which depends on hardware/software
// implementation. Depending on the application requirements 3,2 or a single
// shunt resistor can be used for current waveform reconstruction. The higher
// number of shunt resistors allow the higher duty cycle operation and better
// dc bus utilization. The users should adjust the PI saturation levels
// carefully during open loop tests (i.e pi_id.Umax, pi_iq.Umax and Umins) as
// in project manuals. Violation of this procedure yields distorted current
// waveforms and unstable closed loop operations that may damage the inverter.

  • Hi O.H.

I am looking into this and will provide a response by end of day tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi O.H.,

Thanks for the abundant information provided.

Q2: Is there a sample code for position control with a similar hardware combination to the above?

Answer to Q2: According to your description, you are trying to control a single motor with the F280025 Launchpad and a DRV8353RS-EVM. The project you are using is an example project to spin two motors with a single launchpad at the same time, do you consider to take a look at the F28002x project inside "/solutions/tmdxiddk379d" folder, which uses the same control method to control a single motor but looks closer to your system?

Q1: At line 1267 of "dual_axis_servo_drive_cpu.c", tripFlagDMC is set and the software stops. Can you tell me how to avoid this?
TZFLG.OST is set after "EPWM_enableTripZoneSignals()" is executed in "dual_axis_servo_drive_hal.c", but I don't know why.

Answer to Q1: sounds like the PWM trip zone is active, meaning there is overcurrent fault. Could you double check the analog peripheral configurations, e.g.,  ADC, CMPSS?

    Thanks,

    Jiaxin
