Tool/software:
Hello,
On TIDM-1000 PFC Vienna evaluation board, I don't understand why it is necessary to connect power supply neutral to DC bus mid-point when working in open loop.
Could you explain a little bit ?
Thank you,
Best regards,

Hi Julien,
Since this design is a Y-connection Vienna rectifier is implemented in this design guide.
Many three phase applications mandate use of three wire system. Line to Neutral voltage is a critical measurement signal that is used in the control for following the input voltage, however direct neutral point connection may not be available because of application constraints.
A virtual neutral is hence created and used for the measurement of L-N voltage using a star connection of resistors and capacitors.

Uttam
Hello Uttam,
Thanks for your answer.
My question was more related to the fact that power supply neutral is to be connected to half-bus mid-point for build 1 (see §6.4.1.1 in user guide), 2 (§6.4.2.1) and 3 (§6.4.3.1). But not for build 4 (§6.4.4).
If we don't respect this condition, current waveform may not be as expected.
I don't really understand why.
Best regards,
Julien
Hi Julien,
Please refer this E2E: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000-microcontrollers-group/c2000/f/c2000-microcontrollers-forum/1245127/tidm-1000-neutral-requirement-in-3-phase-6-switch-pfc-converter neutral needed for build 1,2,3
whereas for Build 4, firmware is available to do Bus voltage balancing across output caps. so neutral can be removed.
Thanks & Regards,
Uttam
Hi Uttam,
Reading this post : TIDM-1000: Inductance calculation method and neutral line problem - C2000 microcontrollers forum - C2000︎ microcontrollers - TI E2E support forums
...it looks like there is a Matlab model of the TIDM1000 : is it still the case, and is it possible to get it ?
Thanks,
Best regards,
Julien
Hi Julien,
May I know your end application for this project? Also, We cannot share MATLAB model publicly.
Thanks & Regards,
Uttam
Hi Uttam,
We are developping a Power Electronic for an aeronautic application ; our electronic will be supplied with 115V/400Hz network, so we have a Vienna active rectifier stage ; it is followed by an inverter to drive a synchronous motor.
Best regards,
Julien
