Hi Team,

My customer is designing with the SM320F2812-EP, but they used the commercial version (TMS320F2812) in their previous builds. They wanted to understand if there are any differences between the two devices outside of the operating temperature?

Regards,

JP

  • Hi JP,

This video provides a brief summary of TI's enhanced product line: https://training.ti.com/understanding-tis-enhanced-products-value-and-risk-mitigation

For Enhanced Products (EP), there are no differences between these two variants in terms of performance. The main technical difference between these two products are the increased temperature ranges available in the EP variant. The EP version also has more rigorous testing to ensure long-term performance in extreme conditions, increased quality control, and reduced variation between chips because all units are produced in the same fab. EP uses gold bond wires whereas commercial version uses copper/gold bond wires, but both devices have the same die/pinout etc.

    Best Regards,

    Allison
