I'm looking for a relatively simple solution to create EtherCAT slave devices using our existing Cortex M4 based reference product. Ideally, the interface would be something simple like SPI, but would consider other solutions. Looking for both a development platform that can interface to our existing devices, as well as hardware/firmware that can be integrated into new products as they are developed. I'm just starting to investigate EtherCAT, so am unfamiliar with various options that should be considered as well as the cost/performance/development time tradeoffs of each.
