I am interested in the MTBF/FIT estimates for the automotive qualified version of the F28377D (specifically TMS320F28377DZWTQ). When I look them up on your website, they aren't there (https://www.ti.com/quality-reliability-packaging-download/report?opn=TMS320F28377DZWTQ).

In the Technical Documentation section of the product page, there is a link to the TMS320F28377-EP Reliability Report. Is this valid for the TMS320F28377D-Q1 as well?

I can find the MTBF/FIT estimates for the Catalog and EP versions of the chip. So, my question is what are the MTBF/FIT estimates for the TMS320F28377D-Q1?

I need to check to see why the automotive versions are not showing up. I believe that the EP rated version of this device in the BGA has a different package suffix so I don't think we want to re-use that in place of the Q grade device.

If anything we could start with the Industrial version of the device. The Q grade device will either be the same or better.

I looked into this some more, apparently this is a known issue specifically with this device. We need to follow up with our web ops team to see when this will get fixed, but this post should get you what you need.

Does that post specifically apply to a -Q1 part? I'm selecting MCUs for a safety critical system where MTBF/FIT estimates are very important. I want to make sure that I'm making the best informed decision that I can.

Hi Matthew,

I was just checking out the 3 different varieties reliability number's of the TMS320F28377D again to see if the issue has been resolved. I'm a little confused when I am reading them, however. Right now the on the TI website, it shows the Catalog (PN TMS320F28377DZWTS) and the EP (PN TMS320F28377DGWTEP) have the same better MTBF/FIT estimates, and the Automotive (PN TMS320F28377DZWTQ) version has the worse MTBF/FIT estimates. From my experience with TI MCUs, I would expect the Automotive and EP versions to match with a better MTBF/FIT estimate and the Catalog item to have the worse MTBF/FIT.

Can you confirm that catalog and EP versions of the part for the TMS320F28377D carry the same MTBF/FIT estimates?

I have spoken with the internal teams on this, the error is with the TMS320F28377DZWTS FIT rate. It should match the automotive FIT rate. The -EP device will keep the data you see on TI.com, with the lower number.
