In my current project, I would like to have one master 280039c communicate with 4 slave 280039c. I am wondering what kind of configuration should I use. I read through the Using the Fast Serial Interface (FSI) With Multiple Devices in an Application and notice that daisy chain configuration may be the best choice, but then I found out in the reference manual 31.3.11 there is a TDM configuration designed for one master and multiple slave devices. I am wondering what are difference between them, and what configuration will fit my goal better, thanks.

Hi Kai,

We recommend using the implementations discussed in the SPRACM3 App Note. That includes the daisy-chain or star connection example, which both have accompanying SW examples.

We don't have an example for the TDM_IN implementation and don't really recommend it due to signal degradation concerns (because FSI packets are not re-transmitted by the device in the implementation). Let me know if you have any other questions.

Another question I have is, in order to follow the example code in SPRACM3 app note, can I use TMDSFSIADAPEVM adapter pair with TMDSCNCD280039C control card with docking station?

Hi Kai,

Usually TDM stands for Time-division Multiplexing. It is a signaling mode to by-pass the incoming FSI RX data through the device and out the FSI TX pins without re-transmission.

Please refer to TDM configuration chapter in TRM to get more understanding on this.

But what if I do not expect any messages coming from slave node, I only want master to send message to designate slave nodes. In this scenario, would TDM connection make more sense? because it can connect one master Tx to several slave Rx

Yes, you can do TDM config, but unfortunately, we don't have any example to showcase this.
