Virtual PC target connection problem

Hi!

I've installed CCS4 on a virtual XP system, but I can't connect to the target (experimenter's kit with piccoloF28069). The message I get is: Error connecting to the target (Error -600 @ 0x0) A required dynamic library could not be located. The library isn't on the search path. (Release 5.0.429.0)

Does somebody have an idea what library and what path I have to find/set?

Thanks,

Monica

  • Hi Monica,

I would suspect that the virtual system isn't able to access the actual system's USB subsystem.  Typically you'll get this error when drivers haven't been installed for the emulator.  While you've probably got the emulator plugged in and installed on the "real" PC, the virtual PC can't see this USB device and hasn't installed drivers for it.

I would recommend you look at the documentation for the virtualization program you are using and see if there is any way to tell it to use the host systems USB ports.

If still not working, is there a way to update CCS4 on a 64bit system. I have tried to update but after download I get an error that something could not be installed. If I check the details, it's some file with win32 in its name, so I guess the update manager downloads files for 32bits systems...

The version I got from TI on the CD (one year ago) is so old that it doesn't have F28069 in the device list. How can I use this on 64bits system if I can't do the updates?

     Thanks,

    Monica

I forgot to say that in the virtual PC the board appears as it was not installed properly... You are right. I've tried to find drivers, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for...

  • Monica,

Well 64 bit systems should be able to run 32 bit programs, but I suppose this could be part of the problem.  You can actually download an updated version of CCS from here:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS

If you have the ability, I would recommend you switch to CCSv5.  There are numerous improvements over version 4.

In regard to drivers, you shouldn't have to manually find and install the drivers.  If CCS is installed and the operating system in the virtual machine can talk to the emulator, the driver installation should be automatic.  Can you see the emulator in the virtual system's device manager?
